On this page you will find various activities that can be pursued locally. The Reception will be always at your disposal should you wish to follow up any particular aspects.

Canyoning

Canyoning
Our area is full of white-water rivers: the Cosa, the Molat, the Aga Viva, the Foce and the Rio Pontaiba. These are excellent, unspoiled places and a precious resource to be safeguarded. Their beauty astounds those who approach them for the first time, and not only for the first time. Canyoning is a relatively young discipline but it is spreading rapidly. Just some years ago, only a few brave trail blazers used to practise it, but nowadays, thanks to the facilitation achieved through ever more sophisticated technological equipment, this activity is becoming accessible to more and more people. To practise canyoning, it is necessary to follow the stream bed on foot. For this, one needs to wear a neoprene wetsuit, a harness and head gear. It is partly a water sport and partly caving. Under guidance from an expert, one can choose between long, medium and short routes – thanks to the immense variety of options offered by the territory, with its wealth of white-water rivers within easy reach of each other. Anybody can practice canyoning, even children. This sport allows those who so desire to admire unique and breath-taking scenery, to get to know enchanted places that can be admired only this way, by following the course of the river, and only if you have the necessary equipment, of course. Speleology

Speleology
Speleological Group of Pradis. Year of foundation 1966. The group carries out its activities mainly in the karstic area of Pradis, which has been formed from sedimentary rocks where the rudist limestone of the Late Cretaceous Period emerge, and in other karstic areas in the province of Pordenone and of Monte Canin.

The group intends to promote speleology, and the care of its speleological register, scientific research, erosion studies, teaching methodologies, research and exploration of new caves and finally the safeguarding and enhancement of the underground environment.
Each year, the group organises introductory courses in cave exploration for children and adults.
And every year it takes groups of children and of tourists into the caves of the area. This is done in collaboration with the organisations ‘Centri estivi’, ‘UISP’, the Town Council of Clauzetto and scouting groups. Screen shows and explanatory material are also available on request.
The ‘Grotta Battei’ is equipped with two short fixed stairways; it is an ideal learner’s cave for getting to know and appreciating the world of underground chambers. Also of note is the ‘Grotta delle Aganes’ which offers, apart from its legend and its beauty, wonderful excursions into the natural area.
We would also point out that a traditional Midnight Christmas Mass is held in the Grotte Verdi (Green Caves) of Pradis with the speleologists, on the night of December24 at midnight. During the mass, the Infant Jesus is lowered from the vault of the cave by the speleologists and is then carried first to the altar and then to the crib, which has been built in a scenic corner of the cave.

Among the recognised caves in the Pradis area, we note the La Val caves. Together with the Noglar swallow-hole, these form a complex covering around 7 km, which includes the swallow-holes of Fornez, Juris and Arco Naturale.

Bathing Area

Bathing Area
During the hot summer months, it is possible to refresh oneself on the banks of the many rivers and mountain streams that run through the valleys of Val d'Arzino; one of the best-known and treasured places is certainly Cjaliane by the white-water river of Arzino. This is easily accessible by following a short path that leads from Casiacco in Val d'Arzino. The area of Sottrivea, which is also equipped for picnic and barbecues, is worth mentioning here. This is located at Tramonti di Sopra, not too far from the provincial capital on the river Meduna. At Tramonti di Sotto there is also a large bathing area in the woods, by the banks of the Meduno.

Rock climbing

In Val d'Arzino, and more precisely in the town of Vito d'Asio, in the hamlet of Anduins, lies the rock climbing training area of "Masarach", where all levels of aspiring climbers will be able to practice their climbing skills safely among the more than 40 different routes with fixed climbing points, of varied levels of difficulty.
This practice area was born in 1985, when Bianco Leon drove in the first nail in an attempt to scale the rock wall which would later become La Prima via, (the First Route). This route is still today regarded as a benchmark for those just starting out in rock climbing.

But given the difficulties encountered, the next trail blazers were Nico Valla and Teresa Pasutto, who were at that particular time looking for rock faces to climb. They immediately realized the enormous potential of the area.
The two climbers promptly started to explore all the surroundings and, helped by the emerging Ragni Club of Masarach, they spitted out and cast resin holds on something like 1,200 routes. Difficulty levels for the climbs in the training area are expressed in U.I.A.A. grades, and they vary from 30 to 90: satisfying both for beginners and professionals.
A stunning rock climb. A vast area for parking is available for climbers. Southern exposure means climbing is possible throughout the year.
For those looking for more of a challenge, it is possible to climb the six classic routes of the "Gina", or to visit the upper mountain spurs, following the equipped pathway of "Luigino Turri”: leading to a gorgeous panorama over the ravine of the Arzino mountain stream.
